Every workshop is unique. You will discover a world of magic, explore creative ideas, make beautiful connections, and receive Sylvie's guidance to bring your projects to life.

Working with clay brings pleasure, joy, wellbeing, and serenity. Raku-yaki is about joy, ease, and happiness — two days of magical moments await you.

Two-day programme

Day one — Hand-building (10:30 am – 4:30 pm)

10:30 am – 12:00 pm

Welcome and hand-building

Meet the group over tea, herbal infusion, or coffee and homemade cakes. Discover the studio, tools, and techniques: modelling, slab work, stamping, or coiling. Around three pieces per person (max. 15 cm high and wide).

12:00 pm

Shared lunch

Everyone brings a picnic for a friendly moment in the garden or studio.

1:00 – 4:30 pm

Creating

The afternoon continues your work. Pieces dry for 2–3 weeks before Sylvie fires the first biscuit firing at 980°C (photos of your work will be shared).

Day two — Glazing and Raku firing (9:30 am – 4:30 pm)

9:30 am – 12:00 pm

Glazing

Brush, pour, or dip glazes onto your pieces.

12:00 pm

Shared lunch

Picnic lunch as on the first day.

1:00 – 4:30 pm

Raku firing

Finish glazing, then fire in the outdoor gas kiln (~900°C). Hot unloading, thermal shocks, and smoking in sawdust or newspaper. Clean your pieces and share the moment — you leave with your creations.

Practical information

The Raku workshop is for groups of 2 to 4 people. Form your group with friends. If you come alone, you will need to join an existing group or book a private workshop.

Dates are arranged to suit the group, on weekdays or weekends. Contact Sylvie by phone or email to check availability and details.

If you are travelling from afar, several gîtes and unusual lodgings are available near the studio. The region has plenty to offer — Sylvie will be happy to advise.
