Soliflore and its Poppies Raku Ceramics

Raku single-flower vase in white glazed chamotte stoneware with a high gloss finish, finely crackled and smoked for the black parts. This single-flower vase can be used either as a decorative item with its lid and red raku poppies, or as a vase for cut flowers. You can also plant your poppy in a pot with a green plant for decoration.  This soliflore has been sealed. The flowers are mounted on a soft iron stem that can be easily bent to give the flower movement.

The crackles and matte black color are achieved through raku firing, an ancient Japanese technique dating back to the 15th century that the Japanese used for tea ceremonies. (See details in the “ABOUT” tab). Each raku piece is unique.

All my pieces are handmade in France, lovingly crafted in my ceramics workshop, Le raku de Sylvie, located in the Atlantic Pyrenees, between Pau and Tarbes, facing the beautiful Pyrenees mountains.

As raku is porous, it has been sealed with a special product. Despite all the care I take, it is advisable to handle it with care.
